Lamp Shade
The goal of this project was to create a unique and unusual household object that illustrated and expanded on my proficiency to implement a creative vision into reality. I worked on this throughout July 2019.
I started developing the lamp shade concept on paper until transferring the ideas into a 3D model using Rhino 6. Adobe Dimensions allowed me to visualise the object in a practical setting such as a tabletop before creating a physical prototype. I began engineering the lamp shade using 180mm wooden skewers before adding additional support on the top and bottom of the object. A pentagon was the ideal shape for the design and the structural integrity of my project. I made further re-adjustments to the original model as my interpretation of the final product evolved with the process.
This project tested my skills as an innovative designer and explored a range of tools to aid the design process. I was able to efficiently implement and revise my vision of the finished product by creating a digital model of the lamp shade.

This project was later revisited to address support concerns. An interconnecting circular support system was constructed in Rhino and printed on an Ender 3 3D printer.
